Introducing Centro 365 v4

Change, my dear. And it seems not a moment too soon
The Sixth Doctor, Doctor Who

I’m thrilled to announce the fourth major version of Centro 365, my browser extension and mobile app for managing Microsoft 365, is now available. This significant update, which has been in development since November, introduces a host of new features and quality of life improvements.

If you haven't got it already, download the new Centro 365 today.

So what’s new?

Search has arrived. This highly requested feature marks the biggest single change to Centro 365 since its launch in 2020. It completely changes how you interact with the app, and after using it a few times I'm sure you'll wonder how you ever managed without it.

Centro 365 offers two search modes. The default Global mode searches across all of the admin centres at once, which is ideal for Microsoft 365 newcomers and professionals alike. The other mode, Focused search, narrows results to the active admin centre. For instance, if you have the InTune admin centre open and use Focused search, Centro 365 will only display results related to InTune.

To best accommodate the new search feature I've given Centro 365 a visual makeover, being careful to retain its unique style whilst improving usability through better use of space and colour. The vertical sidebar changes dynamically depending on where you are and what you're doing too.

Centro 365 can now open the top level pages of Microsoft 365 admin centres from your browsers omnibox. (That's the combined address bar and search bar). Pop open a new tab, type c365 and then the name of the admin centre you want. The omnibox will autosuggest admin centres as you type but I've published a full list of supported keywords as a reference. Sadly the omnibox feature isn't available for Safari at this time, as Apple doesn't provide a way to implement it.

I've also added a handy keyboard shortcut so you don't have to keep reaching for your mouse. Ctrl + Shift + Up will open the main window at any time, but you can remap this in your web browser preferences if supported.

What has improved?

The short answer is a lot.

iPhone, iPad and Mac users rejoice, as the app experience has become a whole lot better. Opening Centro 365 from outside Safari, (such as from your home screen or the Dock), takes you into App Mode. From here you have access to all of the same shortcuts, admin centres and the search feature in Global mode.

I’ve added over 100 new shortcuts, such as Azure Universal Print, bringing the total number to over 650. Dark mode is nicer to look at. New users will see a Welcome Guide, walking them through the basics of Centro 365 and its newest features. (This is also available from the About page).

I could go on and on but the best way for you to experience all of this is to try it yourself.

If you're brand new to Centro 365 you can download it right now for your favourite browser using the links below. Should you already have Centro 365 installed rest assured it'll automatically update itself very soon.
